The apparatus has a supply conduit connected with a direct voltage operated load and a control or regulating unit, where current is supplied to the load through the conduit. The control or regulating unit transfers a protocol i.e. asynchronous protocol, to the load through the conduit, where the protocol is read by the load and formed by power supply voltage. The control or regulating unit defines different voltage values of different logic signals or contents of the protocol. The load is designed as a lighting equipment, a ventilator, a display unit and/or a components control unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a cooling and/or freezing apparatus.
