The adjuster (1) has a slider (16) movable along a U or C-shaped profiled rail (2), at which a fitting part is fastened. A locking device is formed by two lock pawls (4, 5) for locking the slider in snap-in contours (14, 15). The snap-in contours are provided in side walls (11, 12) of the profiled rail in the form of detent windows. An omega-shaped spring (6) loads the pawls in a direction of a locking position. The spring comprises a set of portions curved in a locking direction and another set of portions curved opposite to the locking direction. The latter portions rest against the pawls.
