The device has a generator (4) e.g. linear generator or turning generator, and a resetting unit (5), where a rope (1) is secured at the resetting unit. The resetting unit is provided with a spring i.e. spiral spring, and a magnet. The rope and another rope (2) are arranged between the generator and the resetting unit. A housing (3) forms an end of the device, and is firmly mounted at a boat or a flagpole. The generator comprises a set of permanent magnets for creating a magnetic field. The magnets are provided in place of the spring in the resetting unit.
