The device (22) has a limiting unit for limiting pressure of gas flowing into a plastic gas tank (12) of a vehicle. The unit limits the gas pressure to a reduced pressure by comparing the gas pressure during a beginning of a refueling process within a limited period with a subsequent refueling pressure. The limiting unit is integrated in an inner casing and an outer casing of a tank system of the gas tank or in a refueling device (24) of the vehicle. The limiting unit comprises a control and/or regulating element and is activated or deactivated by a switch. An independent claim is also included for a method for refueling a plastic gas tank.
