Apparatus (1) for clamping a drive belt (2), comprises: a drive (3) for transmitting a rotational movement on at least one transport roller (4) in a transport path (5); a system for vacuum treatment for transporting, preferably disc-shaped substrates; a clamping device with a belt roller, preferably a clamping roller, which moves in the plane, lengthening the traveling path of the drive belt. The device has two lever-like- and movable clamping devices, between which the clamping force is transmitted equally via a force coupling along a force line. The drive belt comprises belt rollers. Apparatus (1) for clamping a drive belt (2), comprises: a drive (3) for transmitting a rotational movement on at least one transport roller (4) in a transport path (5); a system for vacuum treatment for transporting, preferably disc-shaped substrates; a clamping device with a belt roller, preferably a clamping roller, which moves in the plane, lengthening the traveling path of the drive belt. The device has two lever-like and movable clamping devices, between which the clamping force is transmitted equally via a force coupling along a force line. The drive belt comprises belt rollers arranged in a plane, which are connected either with a drive or the transport roller, or rotatable in a freestanding manner, wrapping around along a traveling path and transmitting the rotational movement of the belt rollers. The drive belt enclosed at the belt roller is tightened by a clamping force on the clamping device. The clamping device is axially symmetrical, and the clamping rollers of the clamping device run against each other on the drive belt. The symmetrical axis at the intersection of travel path sets up between the tension rollers and force line such that the drive belt in the device comprises an offset inside the travel path.
