The arrangement (10) has a particulate filter which is provided with a filter housing (12) arranged with a filter substrate (14). A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst of nitrogen oxides is provided with substrate (16). An injection apparatus (20) is provided for introducing the source of ammonia into the exhaust stream, with respect to flow direction of the exhaust gas between the particulate filter and SCR catalyst.
