The device (1) has retaining axles (4.1, 4.2) whose end comprises a movable bearing (6), where a vertically adjustable support bearing (7) is supported at another end of the axles and exhibits defined frictional force. The support bearing exhibits friction coefficient of 0.15. The former end of the axles is pivoted around a vertically oriented pivotal axis (11). A stop body (13) contacts a front end of a supply roll (3), where a contact side of the stop body is turned away from the former end of the axles. An inner circumferential part of the roll comprises clamping segments (14). The movable bearing is designed as a half shell bearing.
