The method involves providing a tracer data record (12), which defines a form of a course of an edge of a spectacle lens to be manufactured. User image data of a portion of a head of a user is detected (14). A selected spectacle frame is carried by the user. Contour dots of the edge of the spectacle lens are determined (16) in the user image data based on the tracer data record. Excellent dot of an eye of the user is determined from the user image data. Individual parameter of a usage position is determined (18) from a position of the determined contour dots relative to the excellent dot.
