The endoscope (1) has shaft (2) that is arranged in a distal end (3) of the endoscope. The image pickup units are arranged in distal end of shaft. The image captured by the image pickup units is transmitted to image display device (11,17). The straight looking images are displayed on central display region (12,17a) of image display device. The side looking images are displayed in lateral display regions (13-16,17b-17e) of image display device. The resolution of straight looking images is greater than that of straight looking images.
