The device has a supercharger whose turbine is arranged in an exhaust gas duct and compressors are arranged in an air intake duct of an internal combustion engine (1). An injecting device (2) performs clocked injection of compressed gas into a cylinder (3) of the engine to support the supercharger at low speed, where the injecting device is partially arranged in a cylinder wall (4). The air intake duct is defined at suction side (5) of the engine, and the exhaust gas duct is defined at an exhaust gas side (6) of the engine.
