The device has a clamping cone (10) axially displaced within a tool holder (1) by an eccentric bolt (31). Multiple clamping claws (11) are associated to the clamping cone. The clamping claws are moved between clamping and releasing positions by axial displacement of the clamping cone. A tool retainer (2) or a tool is fixedly clamped in the tool holder in the clamping position, and released in the releasing position. The bolt is rotated against a force of pressure springs (34) away from the releasing position over a dead point in a locked clamping position.
