The device (1) has a controller for generating electrical voltage between stimulation and reference electrodes. The electrodes are arranged on or in an electrode carrier (5). The electrode carrier is placed on a mucous membrane portion or in nose of human such that the electrodes have contact to the mucous membrane portion or nose. A holding element (6) comprising a rod-shaped part is arranged at the electrode carrier for fixing the electrode carrier in mouth area or in the nose in an inserted position. The electrode carrier is made from plastically deformable material.
