The device has optical roundness and straightness sensors (3, 4) detecting a circumference segment of a tube (20) regarding contour and distance to the optical sensors. A portal (2) is movably controlled with the optical sensors relative to the tube lying on a support device (1), in a longitudinal direction (10). An evaluation unit (12) is in a position to determine straightness of the tube over a whole length from data of the sensors and a complete circumference contour at a circumferential position of the straightness sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for contactless, optical testing of roundness and straightness of a tube.
