The hand-held transport unit has a chassis with a portal axle (1) and two wheels (6) mounted on both sides of the portal axle. The upper area of the portal axle is partially displaced in the direction of a handle (4) in horizontal position of a guide bar (3) corresponding to a connecting line of the wheel axes (2), such that an area free from the portal axle is vertically above the connecting line of the wheel axes. An attachment point (9) is provided, on which the load suspension device (8) is hinged and freely suspended, and is connected with a lifting device (7).
