The spacer (13) has legs (7) which are bent downwards in the installed position of the threshold element (1). The upper edge of the threshold element has the same height as the shower area and/or the surrounding floor, and the threshold element is bent into a U-shape. The threshold element is spaced apart from the floor channel and is placed on the legs, using the spacers. The spacer is made of plastic such as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), or polyamide6 (PA6), and is provided with glass chromium layer.
