The device (1) has an input unit designed as a microphone (5), a signal generator (6) and a control unit designed as a handsfree set (2) or speech recognition device, where warning sound (Sw) of a parking assistance system (3) is determined by the signal generator. A loudspeaker (4) outputs acoustic signals of the handsfree set. Volume of the warning sound is reduced when the input unit is switched-on or the control unit filters or attenuates frequency ranges of the warning sound from signals of the input unit by using a filter (8). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling input and output units of acoustic signals in a motor car.
