The filter has a filter housing made of refractory material i.e. metal oxide, provided with an intake port and an exhaust opening. A filter element (1) i.e. hollow dome, filters liquid metal, and is surrounded by the housing. The filter element includes a form of a hollow sleeve with an aperture, where the aperture of the filter element extends to the opening. The sleeve includes a form of a hollow cylinder or a hollow blunt cone, and the housing is formed as a filter housing base part (2) and a filter housing upper part (3), where the base part receives the opening and the filter element. The filter element is made of ceramic material.
