The system (100) has a gate-way control device (110) utilized to embed a HTTP request into a controlled area network (CAN)bus by a compatible message. The HTTP request is embedded in a data field of CANremote frames. A control device (160) is utilized for extracting and passing the HTTP request from the CANbus by the compatible message onto a web server (170). The CANbus connects the control devices. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for operating a control device (2) a method for operating another control device.
