The method involves determining a space (R), velocity (v-1) or an angle of an object (O1) from the radar data. Spacing cells are formed for equal space or angle cells are formed for equal angles. Temporal velocity curves are determined for multiple point targets of an object based on sequential velocity profiles determined successively and temporally. The object is classified based on the temporal velocity curves of multiple point targets associated to the object.
