The method involves determining function-relevant portions (1-4) of casting component (10), and setting of the respective wall thickness of the function-relevant regions with minimum value. The wall thickness of other regions (5,6) of cast component is set to value less than the minimum value. The casting mold is produced with respect to other regions of the casting component and the casting component is removed from the mold. An independent claim is included for casting component for vehicle body.
