The apparatus has a coupling mechanism (AM) which couples the traction elements (9) with generator (21). The movement of tension element to backward and opposite to the direction of flow continues, until tension elements reach original position. The deflection mechanisms have changing unit for changing orientation of water, so that backward movement is performed with lower resistance than that of forward movement with structural arrangement or energy-generating device that performs reverse feed of traction elements from outside of flow generating box through deflecting arrangement. An independent claim is included for method for generating useful energy by generator.
