The boiler has an ash box (5) arranged under a combustion grate (4), and a combustion gas suction (6) arranged in a downstream vortex chamber (7). A subsequent heat exchanger exchanges heating gas. Combustion gases and/or secondary air enter from outside into the vortex chamber in a proximity of a front end. The vortex chamber comprises a hollow cylindrical region, which is coupled to another hollow cylindrical region over a cross-sectional jump and provided in form of a rotationally symmetric hollow body with a front-sided outlet for the combustion gases.
