The motor has a base plate (36) provided with a cylindrical extension (36a) that defines an outer lateral surface. An electrical stator arrangement (38) comprises a stator core (38a) and stator windings, where the stator core defines an inner lateral surface. The stator arrangement is attached on the cylindrical extension of the base plate. The inner lateral surface of the stator arrangement and the outer lateral surface of the cylindrical extension touch the base plate, where a distance between a bottom part of the stator core and the base plate is 0.05-2 mm. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting an electrical stator arrangement in a spindle motor.
