A line tilting shaft provides a mechanism for implementing a highly developed functional behavior in a management system for relational data banks (rdbms), to be introduced without the need for new data types. A line tilting shaft is part of a tables definition, so that, if a table in the rdbms is defined, at least one line tilting shaft for one or more associated columns of lines of the table is specified, wherein the line tilting shaft, by means of an associated functional behavior, the inside of the rdbms is predefined. The tendency to the line shaft linked columns have in general existing types of data, which are supported by a rdbms.
