The invention relates to protective devices for a diabetic foot and to methods for protecting the diabetic foot from a lack of circulation. The protective devices are characterized in particular in that the device can avoid pressure damaging the diabetic foot in a simple and economically cost-effective manner. For this purpose, said device consists of a sole having lateral parts, each comprising pressure and temperature sensors for regions of the foot sole for the measurement of vertical loads and for lateral regions of the foot for the measurement of horizontal loads, including the temperatures, which can be correlated with the circulation, of the respective regions of the foot. The pressure and temperature sensors are moreover interconnected with a data processing system for comparing the measured values to stored limit values. In addition, the data processing system is interconnected with a transmitter. The pressure and temperature sensors, the data processing system, and the transmitter are components of the sole. The data processing system and the transmitter are connected either to an energy source as a component of the sole, or to a fastening device for a body part.
