The device (1) has a pre-precipitator (11) for filtering externally supplied air. A buoyant valve flap (13) is arranged such that a particle discharge side (12) of the pre-precipitator is closed when the valve flap is lifted. The valve flap is partially formed from flexible material i.e. elastomeric material. The valve flap is dimensioned such that a drainage aperture of an external air supply line (16) is closed together with the particle discharge side of the pre-precipitator when the valve flap is lifted. The pre-precipitator is formed from dimension-stable filter material.
