The machine tool has a crossbeam (8), and carriage (11) which is movably held at the crossbeam. A machining head (13) is arranged at carriage for processing a workpiece. The crossbeam includes double walled cross beams (9,10) which have steel inner wall, steel outer wall, and cavity formed between inner and outer walls. The cavity is filled with thermally stable material e.g. concrete with specific heat capacity of 500 J/kgK or thermal conductivity of below 10 W/mK.
