The method involves spatially distributing commercial mobile radio terminals used as acoustic sensors in the area to be monitored. The blast events recorded by mobile station, exact time of collection of blast events, and blast event geographic locations determined with integrated global navigation satellite system (GNSS) device are reported to central server through wireless connection. The center of the location of the blast event is calculated from the incoming messages. The time and place of blast event is reported automatically through alarm and notification. An independent claim is included for a computer program stored in computer-readable medium for performing automatic detection of blast event.
