The pump (1) has piston (9) and armature piston (12) of electromagnet (2). The cylinder (10) is placed in bearing that is provided with bearing areas (21-23). The bearing areas (22,23) are flushed with liquid by cyclic reciprocating movement of piston (9) to produce additional pumping action by utilization of drag flow of liquid in bearing. The fluid is sucked circumferentially adjacent from the bearing area (23) of the armature space (4) by fluid conducting channels (35) in the armature space and is pumped back through the bearing area. An independent claim is included for method for operating lifting piston pump.
