The press has a set of twisting units connected and separated from each other by a set of shearing units after or during a twisting process. A drive unit drives the shearing units, where the twisting units and the shearing units are arranged on a same side of the press in a rest position of drawing needles (15). Continuous wires (9, 10) are positioned for the twisting process by the drawing needles. The shearing units comprise upper fixed knives and lower movable knives. The upper fixed knives are arranged at a carrier (25) over a pressing channel (1).
