The application device (10) has an application tube (20) provided with an outlet (22). A microwave unit (34) is provided for introducing heat into an adhesive (12). An area (36) of the application tube is impinged with microwaves (38), where the area of the application tube is arranged upstream of the outlet. The microwave unit is formed as a sleeve that surrounds the area of the application tube. A controlling device (40) is provided adjusting flow rate of the adhesive through the application tube. An independent claim is included for a method for applying an adhesive on a component.
