The device has a capacitive sensing unit (1) for detecting an object within a range of movement of a wing element, where the sensing unit includes a capacitive sensor that is arranged in and/or on a window pane (2) of the wing element. The sensing unit is partially arranged on the pane, and includes electric lines that are integrated into the pane. The sensing unit forms a heating line i.e. rear window heater (4), for the pane. The sensing unit is connected with a control unit (5) of a motor car to controllably adjust the wing element based on the detected object. The sensor is designed as a proximity sensor and/or a moisture sensor. The window pane is made of an electrical non-conductive material e.g. plastic, glass, and/or laminated glass. The object is selected from a finger, a hand and/or a wall.
