The reservoir e.g. animal drinking trough (10), has a refillable liquid container whose upper surface is provided with a ventilation opening. The liquid container is connected with isolatable tap connection parts (28) for liquid and included into a liquid circuit to be provided with a feed pump that sucks liquid from a bottom portion of the liquid container. The liquid circuit comprises an orifice downstream from the feed pump, and is located before an inlet into an upper area of the liquid container. The tap connection parts are connected between the feed pump and the orifice.
