The projector (1) has an analog mirror array (10) provided with a set of single mirrors, and an illumination device (9) for illumination of the mirror array and comprising light sources (6a-6c). The sources are assigned to the mirrors of the mirror array for illumination of the mirrors with lighting radiations (4a-4c), where radiation intensities (Ir, Ig, Ib) of the radiations are independently adjustable. A control device (15) controls a tilting movement of the mirrors over the radiations reflected from the respective mirror on different pixels to control a projected image (3). The light sources are designed as LEDs or laser diodes. An independent claim is also included for a method for creation of an image on a projection surface.
