Method for recognizing object e.g. tree in environment of car, involves assigning objects based on object attribute to object class and adjusting operating condition of vehicle based on assignment of object to object class
The method involves detecting the stationary objects (7,8) located in the environment (6) of a motor vehicle (1) and generating several images (9-11) by image pickup unit (4). The object feature of the objects is identified in image (9). The identified object characteristic of the objects is tracked continuously in images (10,11) correlated to the advancement of the motor vehicle. The objects are assigned based on the object attribute to an object class. The operating condition of vehicle is adjusted based on the assignment of the object to an object class. An independent claim is included for driver assistance system for recognizing object in environment of motor vehicle.
