The arrangement (1) has a light source (2) whose spectrum lies in wavelength-range between 350 and 520 nanometers. A receiving device (3) receives eggs (4) in a starting position, and a control device (11) is connected with the receiving device and a detection device (8). A determining unit determines standard deviation or difference of contrast between a germinal disk and egg yolk. A terminal transmission unit transfers the determined deviation or the difference of contrast to an image processing module over signal lines for evaluating resulting contrast-amplified image. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting germinal disk in fertilized unincubated poultry eggs.
