The rope has a core steel wire (1) with a first diameter (d1), and a first winding (2) consisting of seven wires with a second diameter (d2). A set of second windings (3, 4) is provided with first seven steel wires with a third diameter (d3) and second seven steel wires with a fourth diameter (d4). A third winding (5) has fourteen steel wires with a fifth diameter (d5). Outer surfaces of the third winding wires are moved with gaps about 2-6 % of nominal diameter of the wires and plastically deformed by decreasing size of a cross sectional area about 6-8.3 %. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a lightning protection rope.
