The device (10) has a sensor (20) including a sensor printed circuit board (PCB) (22) and a digital signal processor (24) (DSP) with a bidirectional digital interface (26) i.e. Controller area network interface, for a main processor (30). The DSP is soldered with the PCB, and digitizes response signals during monitoring a surrounding of a vehicle. The response signals are transferred to the main processor via the interface. The sensor is signal communicatingly connected with the processor via the interface. The interface is bidirectionally digitally connected with the processor.
