The device has a housing formed in a cuff-shape for application to a body of a diver. A housing section of the housing partially covers an extremity e.g. arm and leg, in a normal use. An electronic unit is arranged in the housing. The housing comprises an alarm region (26) on a side facing towards the diver's body, where the alarm region transfers an alarm signal to the diver's body and delivers an alarm in an alarm condition. The alarm signal is realized as a vibration signal. A panic button is arranged in a recess at a bent portion of the housing.
