The method involves providing a carrier (1) made from polymer, and providing sprayable substance (6) that contains material for chemical modification of polymer. A mask (2) is arranged in front of the carrier for determining areas (4) of the carrier to be chemically modified. The carrier is sprayed with the sprayable substance by the mask such that the areas of the carrier are chemically modified. Biological cells are applied on chemically modified areas (8) of the carrier, and adhesion of the biological cells on the chemically modified areas is determined. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a structure.
