Method for determining position and orientation of e.g. handheld measuring head of tactile coordinate measuring machine during industrial production, involves determining orientation of object based on determined coordinates
The method involves measuring wavelengths between transmitters (11-13) and a retroreflector (5) for each transmitter with a known position in a reference system (3). A position of an object (2) in the reference system is determined based on the measured wavelengths. Coordinates of three pixels on an image sensor (6) is determined. Electromagnetic rays transmitted by the transmitters are focused on the sensor by imaging optics (7), a ring lens, a ring diaphragm and an optical filter i.e. interference filter. An orientation of the object is determined based on the determined coordinates. The image sensor is designed as a charge coupled device (CCD) chip. The retroreflector is designed as a ball cup retroreflector. An independent claim is also included for a system for determining position and an orientation of an object in a reference system.
