The method involves rotatably driving a threaded spindle (8) at a rotational axis, and movably driving a spindle nut (9) between a minimal position and a maximum position on the threaded spindle. Current ripple of armature current signal of a direct current motor is counted by a counting device. A number of rotations of a drive shaft (21) is determined based on the counted current ripple. A position of the spindle nut or an adjustable part of a spindle drive is determined based on the determined number of rotations of the drive shaft. An independent claim is also included for a drive device.
