The converter (1) has a coupling capacitor (Ck) chargeable from a connectable source (UB) at an input (2) of the converter in a state of the converter and for providing a negative voltage at a negative output (20) of the converter in another state of the converter. An additive capacitor (C1) is chargeable from the source in the former state and provides a positive voltage at a positive output (30) of the converter in the latter state. A current measuring resistor (Rs) is arranged between the additive capacitor and the positive output for measuring a voltage drop (UA) at the resistor.
