The method involves introducing a traction battery (10) in an injection molding tool for molding a housing by extrusion coating of the traction battery with a moldable plastic material. The traction battery is molded with the moldable plastic material, where the plastic material for housing the traction battery is injected apart from a portion of a pole face (16) at all sides of the traction battery. The traction battery is cured and removed from an injection molding tool in the housing. A sealing lip for tight sealing of the housing is provided with the cover. An independent claim is also included for a traction battery.
