The method involves selecting the shipment information from database (4) or data file (4') incorporating postal address for mails (1). The documents (2) of each mail are brought together with an associated packaging (3). A label is printed on the packaging of each mail with franking (6) and code (7) contained in the shipment information over postal address of respective mail. A suitable delivery type including delivery criteria and postal address for respective mail is selected from list of possible delivery types under consideration before imprinting the label on packaging.
