The device has a power source provided independent of a power source of a vehicle, and a power supply provided independent of a power source of a solar module. A camera device detects image data from an interior and/or environment of the vehicle, and/or a rain sensor detects rain. A current storage is charged through the power source of the vehicle during vehicle operation. An image sensor is utilized as a solar module, and comprises an array and electromagnetic radiation sensitive photo diodes. Solar cells are arranged behind an inner side of a view funnel and/or a scattered light diaphragm. The sensor device is designed as a stereo camera and a light detection and ranging sensor. The rain sensor is designed as a capacitive rain sensor or an optoelectronic rain light sensor. The image sensor is designed as a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for supplying power to a sensor device (2) an electrical power storage for a vehicle.
