The wheel drive comprises a rotatably mounted wheel hub (2) that is driven at a wheel hub carrier (1). A hydraulic operated multiple-plate brake (6) is rotatably mounted at the wheel hub carrier, for deceleration of the wheel hub. The wheel hub and wheel hub carrier are connected to form the housing of the multiple-plate brake. The operating force is applied by an actuating piston (9) of the multiple-plate brake and is directed axially from middle (3) of a vehicle axle to the wheel hub.
