The method involves altering configured parameters of a gateway as a function of a received control signal. Local control instructions are generated to switching on or off of energy consumption or power generation apparatuses by the gateway of the participant in dependence of the changed parameters. The generated instructions are transferred over a local network at one of the apparatuses that is attached to the gateway. A time constant is randomly determined by the gateway, and the alteration of the configured parameters is obtained by the gateway around the lateral determined time constant. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a gateway for stabilizing a power supply network (2) a system for stabilizing a power supply net with a gateway.
