The feeder assembly has two parallel oriented feed rollers (30,34) driven in opposite directions. The crop stream is passed between rollers. A metal detector (40) is located in interior of one of feed rollers for detection of ferromagnetic foreign particles in flow of crop material. One of feed rollers in circumferential direction of successive segments is composed of non-magnetizable metal sheath. An intermediate element is made up of electrically insulating material. The intermediate element is provided between successive segments in circumferential direction.
