The method involves providing components (210) of a plant (200) in three-dimensional graphical representation in a database (310). The process values occurring during the operation of the plant are determined in real time. The current determined process values are evaluated, and the present process malfunction is detected automatically at certain time, when the current determined process values are outside a predefined tolerance range. The established process malfunction is displayed automatically. The detected real-time process values are stored in another database (330). A subset of the stored process values falling in a time interval before the detection time are selected and displayed, when the process fault is established. An independent claim is included for a device for visualizing a process flow in a metallurgical plant.
